A. Our Program

An International Cambridge curriculum aligned with the Pre-Primary and elementary Montessori Method.

We believe that a child learns all the time and in all situations – consciously and subconsciously and that knowledge is the outcome of a child’s own activity in a well stimulated and guided environment. The curriculum is based on the understanding that the child is a natural learner and it draws upon each learner’s ability to construct their own knowledge and supportively nurtures their interest in ‘making meaning’. Learning and teaching is not compartmentalized. It is a curriculum that is integrated both vertically and horizontally – it has the interconnectedness both between learning areas and between groups across a learning area. The Ardee education nurtures each child’s interest in making meaning through hands on experience, research of inquiries that are driven by the child. We strive to ignite the child’s imagination through impressionistic charts and lessons. Learning and teaching is not compartmentalized as interdisciplinary learning is the basis of all planning. Equal importance is given to the need to develop skills like analytical and critical thinking, communication, research, self-management and social to prepare the students for real world situations.

What Board of Examination does THE ARDEE SCHOOL follow?

What Board of Examination does THE ARDEE SCHOOL follow?

THE ARDEE SCHOOL follows The University of Cambridge International Examination Board from grades 1 to 12 and elementary Montessori in pre primary.

How is Cambridge different from other boards and what are the key advantages?

How is Cambridge different from other boards and what are the key advantages?

It is the “methodology” & “delivery of concept” that makes all the difference between CIE and many other boards. A CIE curriculum is more practical and application based emphasizing ‘knowledge with understanding’ and ‘skills with application’. It helps in the all round-development of the children cultivating transferable skills for lifelong learning.

As opposed to assessing memorized knowledge and speed of recall, CIE assesses students’ knowledge, understanding, reasoning, problem solving abilities and the higher cognitive skills of analysis and synthesis. In CIE there is greater scope of independent and collaborative learning through projects, activities, presentations and interactive team-based and enquiry-based learning. Teaching and learning techniques are structured to arouse students’ curiosity and promote personal development.

Examinations are set and marked by the CIE authorities in Cambridge, U.K., thus ensuring worldwide benchmarked quality standards. Frequent face-to-face and on-line faculty training is carried out to ensure quality educational programmes in schools. CIE accreditation is a guaranteed passport for students who wish to pursue a college education in India or abroad.

Key advantages

  • Assessment is done with an 8 point grading scale (A* being the highest attainable grade)
  • ICE-International Certificate of Education can be awarded along with the Advanced Level Certification.
  • Examinations are offered in March and November and are modular.
  • a well balanced curriculum that is internationally oriented.
  • A level and AS level are recognized by all Universities all over the world.

How is the elementary Montessori different from a typical public school program?

How is the elementary Montessori different from a typical public school program?

Unlike a typical public school program:

  • It is child based and not adult centred - the child is the focus of the Montessori classroom or at the elementary levels.
  • The child sets his/her own learning pace. Progress is not dictated by the average progress of the class or by school board timelines.
  • It is auto-educative - Montessori learning materials have an in-built control of error that signal to the child when he/she has mastered a subject or when more work is needed. This self-governing learning process removes any sense of failure or public shame a child might feel in a classroom where the teacher judges and ranks students against one another. There is no need to compete, only to achieve skills to become life-long learners and global citizens.
  • Direction/guidance from the teacher is only encouraged as needed. Beyond this, the material and his/her innate potential to learn to work independently guide the child, thus developing the ability to learn effectively on his/her own.
  • Montessori classrooms are not laid out with desks for student and teacher. The learning environment is thoughtfully developed to meet the child’s needs, with precise material that the children are free to choose from throughout the day.
  • The end goal of a Montessori education is to develop a well rounded, highly socialized human being with a rational, inquisitive, well organized, disciplined and independent mind.
  • The Montessori Method strives to produce adults who adapt to new situations, learn new skills, and interact with others in a positive, productive way throughout life.

The school curriculum and philosophy is based on the theory of MI. We understand that every child is unique and special with his/her learning styles, interests, strengths and that the school has to cater to and nurture this to ensure the actualization of each child's potential.

We treat each child as an individual and respect him/her for his/her individuality. The teaching strategies ensure that different learning styles are addressed for optimum achievement and through academically validated differentiation practices; each child is fully engaged with the work. There is an IEP (Individual Education Plan) for each child made in collaboration by all teachers of a student.
