Ms. Rashima Varma

Ms. Rashima holds a Bachelor’s Degree (hons.) in French from Jawaharlal Nehru University, as well as a Masters in Translation and Interpretation. She also holds an M. Phil degree in International Relations, from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Post her education, she entered the field of Translation and worked in the corporate sector with names such as Louis Vuitton and Schlumberger. Her interest in education was ignited when she got an opportunity to teach the adults in the corporate sector and this interest was further enhanced when her own children started schooling.

Very early in her teaching career she was exposed to the international curriculum, including the IGCSE, IB MYP and IB DP. She has over 12 years of experience in international education having worked in prestigious institutions such as The Shri Ram School and The Pathways School. Her teaching journey allowed her to teach subjects such as French Language B, French Ab Initio, Theory of Knowledge as well as supervisethe Extended Essay in the IB Diploma Programme. She hasheld various roles with the IB which include being an IB examiner, IB Curriculum Coordinator and a teacher.

She was one of the founder members of the Pathways School and spearheaded the MYP authorisation in school. She has attended numerous IB trainings including IB training for Heads and Coordinators which has allowed her a deep insight into the philosophy that guides international education.

Her social media of preference includes twitter and blogs and she uses it as means of connecting with practitioners around the world, thus ensuring that she is constantly learning. A keen learner, she spends at least some part of her day on twitter and on blogs by eminent educational practitioners so as to enable her to constantly innovate and evolve.

As a leader, she hopes to lead by example. Her other passions include cooking, painting and music. She loves being with children.

She strongly believes that the role of the teacher is to give wings to a child’s imagination and that every teacher must believe in the capability of her students.
